WELCOME

Welcome to the Vintage Angler. It all started years ago...My first rod was a Johnson fiberglass spin cast. I got it for my birth day. It was the best gift ever. I grew up in the city, fishing wasn't just around the corner...I'd ride my bike or take the bus miles just for a chance to wet my line. Back in those days we'd use anything to get our lines wet...Searching the streets of Philadelphia for old lug nuts, bolts and even the perfect rock as a sinker. Living in the city corks weren't hard to find ... you just had to go thru the neighbors trash on a Friday night! The bait...well, we turned over rocks for cray fish...dug holes for worms...and waded the stream with a dip net for minnows! Back then We didn't have a choice of what kind of Rod to use or size of our line. Heck sometimes an old maple branch did the trick! In today's market there's so many choices...Do I use a 7ft or 8ft rod ... do I use a 3wt or 4wt... floating or sinking...dry or wet...It can make your head spin. I'm going to try and make it simple. Back to the days when Craftsman built rods. Remember that first rod you got! You looked at it for hours...you cleaned it...you showed it to every kid on the block. That's the feeling I want you to have when you fish my rods...For every rod I make that feeling will go into your rod. I hope you decide to have a custom rod built by the Vintage Angler...pass on a tradition to a kid...they will never forget it! Good luck and good fishing.
